A nod in response to that even as the hand finally drops.
"You keep me around for problems, not for personal appearances. So this face works just as well as any other."
A glance around.
"Am I correct?"

They were just standing there, a stand still-ish, pretty sure it wasn't the first and with their stubborn attitudes it wouldn't be the last. But it avoid it getting more serious she cracked a smile, flipping the mask, to bring some dry humor. And who doesn't love a little word play in the evening.
"About why I keep you or if your face works?" Saying she's the one who keeps him is stretching it. He took the job and continued to do so, in away he's keeping her... and that thought caused a tiny twitch. A small crack in the smile as she decided to lose the stand still and break first for his bike. "Suppose it all works out." That small voice in her head pissing her off by making connections she didn't need at the moment as she kept her eyes focused on the bike.

"Until the end of the world."
He put a hand on her side and then moved for the bike and said.
"But if anyone is keeping anyone, it's me keeping you, Brooklyn."

Why... that would be the question to ask. The money was probably fantastic but it could be gotten by others... more if a bidding war started. Something that would be the death of her, but like she has said before... the fact she was still alive was surprising, especially to her.
Buttons...
She loved them and the reactions people made to them but they pissed people off. And Brooklyn had a habit of pissing powerful people off... She pressed one V's buttons... nothing huge, just a tiny one by figuring out who was behind the mask, before barely any words were exchanged. Not the real mask, the fake one anyone could see, only one they saw really.
No the real mask was something she knew if she pushed he'd push back... Best to leave their masks where they were... Even if she felt him testing hers. But let's side step the obvious and go with the first thing he had to say.
"The world's already ending V... Most of them just can't see it yet." She walked to the bike with him, not pulling away like she wanted... mostly because in a minute her arms around he wrapped around him anyway. Awkwardness did not need to be involved while riding.

"And so we are left with the scraps, to make use of what little we have left on this corpse of a planet, maggots all of us, A disease that could be so useful but ]chooses to burn out the remaining days in selfishness."
He straddles the cycle and kicks it into life even as he rights himself and gets ready to move.
"But it's not dead yet."

Grabbing the helmet that has become mine I take the 'bitch' seat, positioning my gym bag.
"To survive you have to be selfish... And at the end of the world it separates us... You really don't like anyone, or at least don't think of them as much..."
I put my helmet on before I wrapped my arms around his waist.. The last thing I had to say crawling in my mind now... What did someone like him think of someone like me.
That was something I never planned to ask. .. I don't think I'd like the answer.

"It's a rat race, and I enjoy it."
No answers were given as he started to head off once she was comfortable.
