"Why do I feel like we're being watched?"
"You mean you?"
"Us Remmi, us."
"Maybe cause you're talking to yourself?"
Touché, I was talking to myself, even if it was hushed. I looked up from the pavement to see random faces, no one person stood out in the crowd. And if any of them recognized me behind the hoodie no one was showing signs of it. No one was even paying attention to me talking to myself. A benefit of living in a big city, everyone was to busy with themselves to notice anyone else.
"Still feel it?"
"Yes.."
"Maybe it's your lack of sleep." It wasn't a question, it was Remmi being Remmi.
"Well just let me tell the nightmares to kindly go fuck themselves."
"You could try it, you never know after all... It could work."
"Thanks." I stopped talking to her and decided to walk in silence. Something was still up her ass and I knew she wasn't going to tell me.
I wonder if this is what it's like to have a sister...
And than I thought about tonight, trying to push back the feeling of being watched. Tonight I invited Garrett over for dinner... for the 2nd time this week, maybe tonight plans will actually work for us.
I'll have enough time to shower before I start making dinner. I was sweaty from the gym and nothing about me felt appealing right now. A nice hot shower and chicken alfredo... sounded like a great night.
Perhaps I let myself get too lost in thought as I walked into the parking garage. I had been using the service entrance since Belle's mother blew her brains all over the lobby. It was less to stress about and less eyes to stare....
Remmi caught it first.... 'The lights are off.'
I looked up at the concrete ceilings to see exactly what she had said, all of the lights were out. It gave the garage a creepy darkness and put a pit in my stomach. I flipped open my hood as I looked behind me.
"This feels-" I was cut off as I was lifted up and slammed into the very unforgiving wall. My feet dangled as I was pinned by my throat. The warmth of blood trickled down the back of my neck as I found it hard to focus my eyes.
The person standing in front of me was wearing all black and reminded me of something military. No hair stuck out of the black ski mask like hood. He even had a black face plate that made him look part cyborg.
His grip tightened and he raised me higher. Between the blood lose and the lack of oxygen I began to slip into lightheadedness. My hands were gripping at his... Was his arm seriously armored? It was, he had armor one and nothing I did seemed to help. If I was causing him any pain he didn't show it.
'Rem...'
'No cameras.' - A new trick Lilith taught her... God that was a whole different story. That cluster fuck I unknowingly signed myself up for.
"Each electronic has a signature. Cameras run on a different frequency. If you know how to feel that wave you'll know if there is a camera near by."
I felt her leaving, normally it was a flash, a blink, and she was just there but this time I could feel her leaving. Like my soul was lifting from my being, but maybe that was just the slowing heart rate. Maybe everything felt like slow motion.
The moment I felt empty I heard it, a sickly chuckle and a gasp. The very second Remmi was visible she was meeting the same fate as me. However the force used against her was greater than what was used for me. The wall behind me shuddered as Remmi put pressure cracks in the solid concrete.
Whoever this guy was it was apparent he was like me... like Remmi. Where there once was one now there were two. Identical... except the one who held Remmi was a hair taller... sound familiar?
His hand began to glow orange as Remmi tried to wrestle free. I could see his fingers clinch, tightening his grip as a sizzling sound flooded my ears... right before the horrific scream coming from Remmi.... What in the hell was he?
Instinct, survival, it was something we always knew. Something that just happened when you were connected to someone. I reached out for her, at the same moment she reach for me.
Where our hands met turned teal, a color I had seen from us before. A more powerful aura as we both swung, the aura following, making contact with our attackers.
It looked like sparks flying as a loud crack echoed through the garage. Remmi and me were both dropped as he became one again. The blood rushed back to my head, causing the world to spin and blur. Remmi wasted no time in returning to her feet but he was gone... somehow.
I don't even remember seeing him move away, no footsteps of fleeting were heard. I looked up at Remmi, the burn on her neck was bright red, fresh, and looked extremely painful.
Her arm extended, reaching for mine, pulling me to my feet. I used the wall for support as she disappeared. The searing pain of her neck mixing with my sore neck.
"Fucking.. Shit.. Fuck!"
"What in the hell was that?!" I pushed off the wall, pulling my hood up to hide the gash in the back of my head. I slowly made my way towards the service entrance.
"I don't know..." Shaking, I punched in the access code, opening the door. It shut behind me and I let myself crumble to the floor.
'Nero.'
"I just need a minute." I felt drained my neck felt like it could melt an iceberg.
"Relax." I watched her stand using my legs. This was the one time we wee both ok with not using the steps. So she snuck into the lobby and pressed the button to the elevator. Catching a glimpse of the last thing she wanted to see right now...
Bishop walking into the building, under her breath she was to comment. "Of all the nights for him NOT to cancel."
'I'm bleeding.'
The elevator opened and Remmi stepped in after making eye contact with him. Putting a foot out to keep the door opened for him. I could only imagine the look on his face when he got a closer look...
'What do we say?'
Not giving him any lead way Remmi wasted no time, the moment he was within ears reach she spoke.
"We were just mugged." That was almost the most truthful thing she had ever said to him....
"You mean you?"
"Us Remmi, us."

Thank you Lilith.
