He was too weak, too slow to save himself, or he just hesitated at the worst moment. Brooklyn stood just beyond the scorch marks, smoke still rising from the ashes and the skeleton of the truck.... This mess would be cleaned up too, just like every mess in her life.
The sun was rising on a new day and maybe even a new chapter... the possibilities where becoming many but defiantly not endless. Some possibilities were gone, life would never be the same and for a moment it didn't matter.
She took a step closer as the scent filled her nostrils, a chuckle as if she was remembering before she commented to herself. "Just like my first time..." She loved the smell of the fire, even if she embraced the cold of winter.
"Their kindness provided you with false security... No sympathy for the guilty Sebastian..." His family was loyal to hers... but their friendship made her family weak. Forgiving offenses that should have examples made out of them... Jack's betrayal... Thomas's ignorance... Sebastian's cockiness.
"May the fires consume what bit of a soul you had left." The chuckles were gone and the smile never showed like she thought it would. She thought a smile for everything he did.... what he was a part of... Her brother was seeking his council, she was sure of that. Only a few can get that close to whisper into his ear.
And to whisper death against his sister... well... we see what happened. Her next problem, West. He was bright and she imagined had the ego to match it... he would be stupid enough to try again. "Pride."
There was the smile... a bit twisted as one lip curled more than the other. Something new to play with... She turned to walk away when she saw him. The white mask stood out like porcelain against the shadows of the remaining night.
The smile staring at her, never blinking, never fading. It was always constant and never changing. It would always be impossible to read... just like the man behind it. Her smile stayed as she stopped, keeping a few feet between them.
